“Mer Hayrenik” (“Our Fatherland”)<\/strong>
\nThe Anthem of the Republic of Armenia was adopted on July 1, 1991, by the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Armenia. It is based on the Anthem of the First Armenian Republic (1918-1920), but with different lyrics. The author of the lyrics is poet Mikael Nalbandian (1829-1866).<\/p>\n

Our Fatherland, free, independent,
\nThat has lived for centuries,
\nIs now summoning its sons
\nTo the free, independent Armenia.<\/em><\/p>\n

Death is the same everywhere,
\nA man dies but once,
\nBlessed is the one who dies
\nFor the freedom of his nation.<\/em><\/p>\n

Here is a flag for you my brother,
\nThat I have sewed
\nOver the sleepless nights,
\nAnd bathed in my tears.<\/em><\/p>\n

Look at it, tricoloured,
\nA valuable symbol for us.
\nLet it shine against the enemy.
\nLet Armenia be glorious forever.<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n
